Hi! I’m Dave, the writer and director of The Borderland State. I’m an Auckland born, Bangkok raised, Melbourne based film maker. To pay the bills I work as a television producer for the ABC in Australia. My inspiration stems from travelling, 90s video games, black comedy, the internet, and pop culture. But mainly people. Odd, odd people.

I decided after finishing my latest short films To the Victor, Bulb and Junk that it was time to move onto a feature, and The Borderland State is it!

Hi! I’m Kate, producer and production designer of The Borderland State. Always destined to burn the creative candle, I followed my nose through a fine arts degree in sculpture, and somehow was happily regurgitated out into the world of film and tv. I’m super excited about this project, Dave and I have been churning through short films, and just can’t wait any longer to sink our teeth into some feature filmmaking!

I rejoice at quirky scripts that allow for a left-of-centre approach to Production Design, and stories that leave the viewer simultaneously amused and perturbed. I’m inspired by directors and artists alike – Michel Gondry, Tim Burton, Olafur Elaisson, Tom Friedman, and Takashi Murakami to name a few!
